About Organic Bamboo Muslin Cloths
We believe our innovative, evidenced-based range of all-natural skincare doesn’t have to come at the compromise of people or the planet, and that’s why these beautiful cloths are 100% traceable, organically certified and made in New Zealand.
Our certified organic bamboo muslin cloths allow you to cleanse daily without irritation of the skin. They leave your skin smooth, soft and primed for the application of oils, serums and crèmes.
It’s not enough for our products to be 100% clean, they have to have uncompromising results. Bamboo is a unique plant created by nature. It is one of the most robust and rapid growing plants on earth. Much of this plant’s popularity is because of the remarkable natural antibacterial traits of bamboo fibre.
The antibacterial properties of bamboo are the most profound reason that bamboo grows so rapidly in nature. Because bamboo has an inherited natural barricade against bacteria, most varieties of bacteria and bugs that attempt to thrive on the bamboo plant are eradicated naturally on contact.
Controlled testing and sampling by the China Textile Industry Testing Centre produced astonishing results. The tests concluded that after introducing bacteria to a specimen of woven bamboo fabric, a 99.8% reduction in bacteria was observed over a 24-hour period. In a different independent study by The Japan Textile Inspection Association, results proved that bamboo fabric could eradicate over 70% of introduced bacteria during a period of 24 hours. And that result was after an incredible 50 industrial wash cycles. Bamboo material will also combat yeast, mould and fungus cultivation.

Sustainability & Recycling
Every Emma Lewisham product has been designed with the intention of being refillable, recyclable or compostable. We believe the future of beauty is where brands take ownership for what happens to their packaging at the end of its life, and that we should all aspire to a truly closed-loop recycling system.
Bamboo is one of the most environmentally friendly crops that exists today. It is not only a renewable resource, but is one of the most renewable due to its rapid rate of renewal. In fact, a bamboo plantation has a yield up to 25 times that of a forest and it produces the highest yield of fibre per hectare.
Bamboo consumes less water than other plants. It absorbs 35% more CO2 than other forests and it does not require pesticides or insecticides. In addition, our organic bamboo muslin cloths are reusable, helping to further reduce waste production.
Our organic bamboo muslin cloths are printed on an environmentally responsible paper which has been produced using PEFC certified pulp from responsible sources. We print on it using mineral, oil free, vegetable based inks and water based coatings. Oil based glue is required to assemble these boxes. Stamping foil used on the box does not affect recyclability. It is 100% recyclable in New Zealand with no chemical coatings, which means our boxes will degrade naturally, whether they are composted or simply put in the landfill.
We’ve worked hard to provide you with clean skincare via a supply chain that is efficient, transparent, and accountable. To this end, we have developed a Sustainability Framework which provides transparency on what Emma Lewisham is doing to address the six drivers of our supply chain: raw materials, supplier, manufacturing, distribution, retail outlets and customers. These are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Read the Emma Lewisham Sustainability Framework.
How to use
Soak in water to make warm and damp, then sweep over skin to lift off cleanser. Wash after two uses.
A warm, gentle cycle is best for our bamboo muslin cloths to help the fabric maintain its suppleness. Use cold water for lightly soiled bamboo clothing.
Never use hot water for regular washing, because it can cause the fabric to shrink.
